Prior to the internet and explosion of digital marketing, various departments like Public Relations, Advertising, and Affiliate Marketing would often work independent of each other. As brands start building their marketing teams, it’s becoming increasingly clear that search engine optimization (SEO) is not as effective when working alone.

By cross-collaborating your SEO efforts with the rest of your marketing campaigns, you have the opportunity to reinforce your efforts, increase brand awareness, and drive more traffic to your website. Here are three ways to integrate your SEO strategy with your other digital marketing efforts:

1. Start with the Basics
One of the easiest ways for the rest of your marketers to with SEOs is to share and agree to a set of keywords for everyone to focus on. Have your SEOs lead the way by using online tools like Google Adwords or Google Trends to establish the keywords and then share them with everyone else. SEOs can also collaborate with public relations and social media marketers to build brand awareness and improve digital reputation.

2. Have a Consistent Message
All of your marketing channels should promote the same message for two reasons. First, when everyone works together on the same goals, the chances of success for your business are much greater. Second, your audience will receive the same message from all avenues, allowing you to build brand authority and gain the trust of the audience.

3. Think Outside the Box
Sharing keywords and a brand message is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to integrating SEO with the rest of your marketing teams. It is important that a project management team, which could also be your SEO team, keeps goals organized and the marketing teams informed of what every other department is accomplishing.

You should also keep in mind that integration takes long-term planning and commitment. Give your SEOs ample time to implement, run, and analyze the results of campaigns. Resist the urge to take shortcuts and remove bureaucracy from the integration process.
